The Midnite Gamer

From my very first boardgame (Monopoly) many moons ago, to the rediscovery of the joys of boardgames thru the recent designer games, Jeffrey writes about his passion for all games with a board (or cards).

"Escape to Victory" Subbuteo set

The recent World Cup fever is bringing me back to my old fave table soccer game - Subbuteo (r). Geeked [8-|]

I still have a full set with Astropitch and two teams painted in the national colors of Brazil and Germany, coincidentally the two finalists in the last (2002) World Cup.

BGGer Trevellion posted a recommendation (on BGG where else) for the Stefan Corda's handmade and unpainted Subbuteo figures. A quick check on their website http://www.stefancorda.co.uk/ indicated they are premium collector items (and not those basic Subbuteo sets which you can get easily from eBay for a few USDs).

What caught my attention is their special Vintage Years collection which has a special painted two-team set collection figuring the characters from the classic football movie "Escape to Victory".

If GBP35 is a pinch to you and you luv the Escape to Victory movie, worth dropping by their site to look-see.
