rhyen: jack208: Champion Eternal: I agree w you : Caylus 2er.
Oooh... if u wanna do this, better get like 200+ plays under BSW else aanemesis will cream you (or us too)... hehe.
He already cream Hengy so we know the results of that matchup. Okay Hengy, want to joust in the losers' bracket?
I think currently in Caylus 2er, Ainul has no peers. He is the king.

then why do you still insist on organizing the tournament? do you want to give our good friend ainul, his victory parade?

I think Caylus 2er allows the more skilful player to win, whereas 4er depends on whos ganging up on who. Tournaments are fairer if it does not depend on ppl ganging up on a victim. (Although ganging up can happen in most tourneys. 2er tourneys see less chance of this happening). Throwing games is another matter...

LOL - Caylus 4er allows the sub-game called footsie. But it's likely that all players are guys. Watching footsie might be more entertaining than the actual Caylus then...this sub-game might pull the crowd...

Champion Eternal:Or make a rule against using unparliamentary language.
Hmm.. that depends on which country you are from. You know, in some country eg Taiwan, that language is not exactly unparliamentary. In fact, it's very very parliamentary... LOL

I totally agreed... at this moment I dare say no one that we know of can unseat aanemesis in 2er Caylus. But if you want, you can get yourself 200+ playing in BSW, then you stand a chance.
2er Caylus does allow the more skillful player to win but that detracts from the attraction of a boardgame competition vs say a chess competition, no? If I wanna do mano-on-mano, then I'll take chess anytime for its elegance and timeless attraction. But you can't win in chess without committing as much time as the other dude across the table you are playing.
2er Caylus differs from chess in that once you've taken enuff lessons in 2er Caylus, there's only so much more (or less) that you can varied. In 2er Caylus, the essence is basically distilled down to i) must take Building favor, ii) first fight is for the three stone production bldg and church, iii) fight for the remaining stone bldgs, and iv) fight for the prestige bldg.
With two very experienced 2er Caylus players, things can get pretty dry. It all boils down to who blinks first and he's out.
Chess has that same element except chess offers a wider repertoire in the opening moves, the mid-game and the end-game to keep you interested for years.
I can bet if you played over 500+ of 2er Caylus in BSW, you'll get tired of playing 2er Caylus anymore....

![Stick out tongue [:P]](/community/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) didn't CE have eurogame burnout already....
Even though Caylus is my favourite Eurogame, in none of my post did I say I was going to participate. ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/community/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) I will leave Caylus competition to the Caylus experts. (The title of this post is 'Re: What organize leagues/tournaments do you want to see?') And please, use my nick when discussing on BGC. Thanks.

Re: What organize leagues/tournaments do you want to see?
1. can bgc start a recruitment drive for female gamers who also like to play footsie? mage can have a ladies night? we dun mind organizing a miss boardgamegeek (current favorite = miss subang jaya?)...
2. sadly (for us), you see as many female gamers in spiel as guys - its evident in euro games, ccgs and hall 6 (with the exception of miniatures). and i don't see them being dragged unwillingly by some boyfriend? in fact, there are tons of them who go in female only groups! also, very nice to see many families on the weekends. and i really mean family - grandpa and grandma not just in tow, but teaching the young ones how to play and trying to beat the crap out of the teens! its really a family thing in europe.
3. actually, we not doing too badly lah... when i started playing euro games in 2003/4, i was the only guy in the group! and, we had 2 "celebreties" - sarimah (the tv host) whom some of you met one halloween gaming night; and deanna yusoff (king & i, etc). we actually tried hard to get a ex-miss m'sia (arianna) to play (since we sponsor her hubby, alex yoong), but no luck ;-(
4. i do see a lot of females in mage on weeknights though, so i'm sure there is hope.
