    Please do NOT

    Hello,

Pls do not shift my messages around. The forum has about 13 members and probably 5 active posters. As of now, we do not need so many threads / sub-threads. It is irritating to keep track of all our posts in multiple areas when all we do is talk about 2-3 things.

Some views / comments were given about a particular game that i've just played and shouldn't be shifted into a strategy thread.

As of now, we have a number of game threads eg. Light strategy games, gateway games, gamers games, first impressions etc.. Are new ones going to pop up for every single category? Train games, dungeon crawls, economic games, Area control games, Hybrids...etc, I see that as a waste of space and should be limited to 3-4 at most. (until we gather a big crowd, such as sci-fi /fantasy gamers) or who request additional threads to be added.

    See ya!

I 2nd that. Its it confusing enough to sieve through all the topics let alone posting a topic and not knowing where it should be in. :)

Ok ok mate.. if this is confusing you I've moved your post back to its original thread.

The reason I shifted your thread to the strategy section was becoz it did contain strategic tips (which I find useful). And some other ppl looking for strategic tips may actually be looking for them in the Light Strategy forum rather than other chit-chat forums.

I'd actually wanted to duplicate the post to the Light Strategy section which would have kept the original post in Games Talk for you to continue commenting about, while creating a new copy in the Light Strategy section for others to read about. But there's no Duplicate function in this forum software..... Sad [:(]

Anyway no worry. The post is back to where it came from Smile [:)]

No, not really. The forums in the Boardgames section are basically just grouped into what you have, that's 3-4 so that those who are looking to read about Gateway games won't need be bothered about Gamers Games and vice versa. Unless yes, as you mention a particular category warrants a section by itself.

I also agree with you that others like scifi or fantasy would only be opened when we have those fans on board. Right now, we are mainly boardgamers here. Even the Warhammer/Confrontation/Mini forums which were requested by Chua were relatively untouched as those who do play miniatures like KJ, Dave and Nick are merely lurkers in this community rather than active posters.

So let's just say the sections now are more or less what we'll have. The challenge now is to get more posters onboard (posters and not just members) Stick out tongue [:P]

Hi.. yeah.. now you are really "lost" as in your nick (pardon the pun) Stick out tongue [:P]

the way I keep track of new posts and threads is merely set the Options in the forums I wanna track to send me an email on new posts. In this way, I can easily get notification of incoming posts to my Inbox and decide whether I want to reply/read the posting. If I do, a click on the link inside the email message takes me there.

This is a small forum so you may tend to sieve thru the forums looking at the topics and replies. But you may also consider using the above approach which not only makes it easier for you to be kept informed of new posts, it also scales well ie. allowing you to track large number of forums.

There are also some forums which you may not actually participate for eg. Kids Games Day (unless of course you are interested to join a Games Day). Similarly those not gaming in GC may not be checking the GC forum often - or at all.

Anyway both yours and YS points are noted. Do keep those suggestions coming. Cheers Smile [:)]

    Re: Please do NOT

Perhaps strategy articles if written to be placed in a thread called "Strategy Articles". First Impressions should be replaced or fitted into "General Gaming". The bgg's thread sectioning is a good benchmark ;)

Too many thread sections just complicate matters.

    Re: Please do NOT

    Good idea!

I've reworked some of the forums to streamline the BOARD GAMES SECTION into:

    • Game Strategies
    • General Gaming
    • Games for Kids
    • Rules for Games (sorta FAQ)

I've combined threads from (now deleted) Light Games and Card Games into General Gaming. General Gaming now can have threads about each game for those interested to follow....

I'm thinking of merging Games Talk into General Gaming so that there's one place where everyone talks about any games. Watdoya think?

Um... where ah? Really lost. All I can see in my options screens is e-mail replies IF someone replies your post, not new post.

    Re: Please do NOT

i reckon it's better to put light / medium / heavy or some other category instead of putting kids games

cuz i'm sure gamers play kids games and kids below 12 could play die Macher if they wanted to.

    :))

It's in the Read Me First forum, FAQ sections. Here's the link to it if you have not read it. I've added some visual images to make it more helpful.

Err.. no lar. I'm classfying by the target market (customer) rather than game category ie. setting the forum to target a specific segment of the market. In this case, the Games for Kids forum is to target those wanting to know more about which games are suitable for kids and how to modify them when playing with different age groups.

So yes the games might have die Macher or any of the heavier games but the ppl who's gonna come into this forum are likely to be parents or teachers.... We'll be talking about die Macher at the kids level.

There are two other groups I wanna target - the gamers group ie ppl like yourself, Long, Chua and the non-gamers group. The non-gamer groups are those that'll frequent boardgame cafes etc. But for now, I'll just lump them all into General Gaming first.

p/s If you want to have smileys in your post, enclose them in square brackets for eg. "[ :) ]". You may omit the spaces between the brackets, I add them so that it'll show as it is and not convert into a smiley -> Smile [:)]
