Re: WHY POST ON FACTORY TOUR TO FLAMES OF WAR BANNED AS SPAMMING???

According to the Forum description: ***. If this site is not willing to permit gamers to be informed of such an exclusive factory tour, then perhaps the site should be shut down.

    Re: WHY ... SPAMMING???

    WHAT THE HELL!?!!

I really DON'T need this crap happening here in this boardgaming forum. Kindly refer to:

I take it there is a communication disconnect somewhere? Let's get this sorted before it spirals out of control!

Dun worry, the chaos is contained. By spamming in every active threads, it has only served to validate my point that allowing commercialism into this forums does not serve the interest of the gamers here - who are basically wanting an online place to chill out before meeting their buddies for a game or two.

Those who are looking to buy boardgames I'm sure will eventually find where the retailers are etc. For your info, the Star publishes a weekly article on Top 5 games which list a number of shops where you can get your games... and for your info, Boardgamecafe.net - even though we are selling games from the same distributor - HARDLY GETS MENTION in the Star. Yet same distributor has been spamming here regularly. Go figure that out.

BGC is interested to organize events that are meant for gamers to get together and have fun. Watch this space, there'll be 18xx, Caylus, P.Rico events coming.. but be assured I am not organizing those events wanting to sell more stuff to you! Stick out tongue [:P]

    Caylus Competiton

Since we are on the topic of event and since today is Kong Hee Fatt Choy, let me just get this ball rolling. BGC will organize a Caylus Competition, open to all local players (and overseas players who are willing to fly in to KL hehe).

I'll need organizers/helpers - well, one or two will do - but I'm considering whether those organizers can take part in the event or not before I ask for volunteers.

Format should be 4p and the final four would get to play on the Premium Edition in the Final Round. Smile [:)] Let's start the discussion..... knock-off? round-robin? group-format?

p/s wolfx, time to practice lor....

    Re: Caylus Competiton

I can help out (assuming I am around).

For tournament format, might want to consider adopting the SoC world championship format. Multiple prelims (with rankings assigned to each players for finishing positions) and taking the top players (1/4 or less of the playing populations, tiebreaks will be differentiate on total combined score, so players will aim to score as many points as possible in each game.). Draw between each round will be power matching (repeat/ no repeat will be up to you)

Finals will be knockout format like the SoC championship, preferably top 2 advancing (but then again, we will have alliances cropping up) so any better ideas?

so between 32-60 players, we will have 8 finalists, competing to get into the grand finals. (finalist will not be randomly drawn to face it other but seeded like tennis masters: S-final 1 - 1, 4, 5, 8; S - final 2: 2, 3, 6, 7)
for 64 and above, it would be 16 Q-finalists and so forth.

will need to work out if it is feasible to keep track of starting order and assigning them instead of randomization (or perhaps players could bid for starting order in the 1st round)

I came, I play, I lost, I return for revenge.

    Re: Caylus Competiton

    Joust! Joust! Joust! hehe..

    LET THE JOUSTING BEGIN!!!

Imagine what would happen if :

Aanemesis, Champion Eternal, friedricetheman and Rhyen were all drafted in the same table...

Rhyen will screw Aanemesis. Friedricetheman and Aanemesis would 'gangbang' Rhyen (better to give than to receive) and Champion Eternal would be playing with himself at the castle. hehe...

yeah, we are not advocating 1-on-1 Caylus (if we were, Chris Yap would be the lock-in favourite. Sorry, Chris! got to deal with 3 people trying to beat you at the same time)
more player, more random chaos, more unpredictability.

But we would expect certain people to qualify, aanemesis, chrisyap, jack208, wolfx, etc. so start playing, people!

PS: Marcus, I won't be drawn on the same table one since I am doing the pairing! :P (maybe I should put you in my place for the opening round)

I came, I play, I lost, I return for revenge.
