1st M’sian Power Grid Tournament
The first POWER GRID Tournament in M’sia starts next Sunday (Mar13) with the first leg being kicked off at Boardgame Depot, Lucky Garden Bangsar and will continue over the next few weeks at Cassian Kitchen, Family Boardgame Station, Wolf Game Shop, and OTK Cheras. Are you ready to see if you can built your power plant empire better than the rest?
OTK Meetup 11/2/11 – Zombies, Dominant Species, Kaigan, Alhambra, Carson City, Glen More
Our first meetup post-Chinese New Year saw ZOMBIES in-play (hmm… not superstitious ka?) and the popular – and some said the BEST – 2010 game DOMINANT SPECIES getting intro-ed to the OTK group by Emil. Other games in play were Alhambra, Kaigan, Carson City and Glen More. Another Friday and another 7am meetup!
OTK New Year Eve Meetup 31/12/10 – Fresco, El Capitan
The 2nd of our Back-to-Back OTK Meetups – click here for yesterday’s meetup report – and this one’s running over the Year End Countdown. Most people would be out at the pub tonite doing the countdown but four gamers decided to meet and countdown over a game of Fresco and El Capitan as we bade farewell to 2010 and welcomes 2011. OTK Pre-New Year Eve Meetup 30/12/10 – Alien Frontiers, Power Struggle, 7 Wonders
With the New Year coming up, we decided to do a double-date this week – that’s rite folks two OTK Meetups back-to-back. This is the report on the 1st OTK Meetup on Thu evening where we did Alien Frontier (again!) and our first-play of a game that we’ve been having in our library for a long time – Power Struggle!
OTK Xmas Eve Meetup 24/12/10 – Tego, Alien Frontier, Dixit, Citadels, Samurai
One thing I love about organizing meetups is the meeting of new friends and the reunion with past friends who sometimes return for a game or two. This Xmas Eve, I received a surprise call from a gamer fren whom I’ve not seen for a year or two. Welcome back to the world of boardgaming. It’s not just old friends we welcomed but old classic games like Samurai, and with OTK’s first play of Alien Frontier & Tego. Merry Christmas to all!
OTK Cheras (Weiqi) Meetup 18/12/10 – Havoc, Imperial
An unexpected call from a regular OTKer Jimmy set us up for this adhoc meetup with the Weiqi gamers. Beside doing a session of Imperial, a game this group is already familiar with, we introduced them to HAVOC, a great poker variant that was very well received. Too bad this game is no longer in print.
OTK Meetup 17/12/10 – Lords of Vegas, Magical Athlete, 7 Wonders, Horse Fever, Leaping Lemmings, Nanuk, Carcassonne, Age of Steam, Confucius
This meetup came right after our Dec New Arrivals, and never before have so many new games hit the OTK tables in one night – Lords of Vegas, Magical Athlete, 7 Wonders, Horse Fever, Leaping Lemmings, and some not-so-new ones like Nanuk, Carcassonne, and Age of Steam – attended by over 18+ gamers; almost a whos-who of the local boardgaming scene. 🙂

OTK Meetup 10/12/10 – Vasco da Gama, Wealth of Nations, 18Scan
A relatively quiet meetup with just one table in play, but it saw a mix of interesting games getting some table-time. Vasco da Gama as a first-play to a few of the gamers, and an old fave Wealth of Nations making a comeback and finally we close-out the night with 18Scan. Not bad for a single table session which lasted 9 hours!
ZOMBIES – Time for some mindless (&dumb) bloodletting…..

OTK Meetup 7/12/10 – Le Havre, Roll thru the Ages, 1830, 18TN, Homesteaders
This was a mid-week meetup on a Tuesday mainly due to this being a public holiday here in M’sia. There was some buzz lately on 18xx and we decided to make today an “18xx Day” with all newcomers to the 18xx game system welcomed to come and try it out! Did we manage to have some new converts?

OTK was a BANG last nite!! We took all 3 main tables facing their front door!! Three sessions were gaming concurrently… with OTK’s first CIVILIZATION game in session (TQ Ho for bringing his CIV to OTK). 1841 was also brought to tempt Ho to stay. Let’s see what else was in play? Nanuk, Homesteaders, Dixit, Roll thru Ages ……& 1960; Homesteaders being played 3 times!! We finally call it a nite at 7:30am this morning!!
