EXCERPT. SPIEL now is not just all about games. They are getting into merchandise… t-shirt, mascot plushie, mugs, and even an official SPIEL game! Read all about the Essen Spiel mercs on offer this year!

SPIEL actually debuted their “new” mascot named MEEPS last year. MEEPS is a cute little kitten, designed by renowned game illustrator Michael Menzel (Firenze, Stone Age, Bruges). They were putting him – MEEPS, not Michael – on everything that’s on display in Essen last year. T-shirts, coasters, cups, mouse pads, dice trays…. the only thing that was not available was a cute plushie Meeps.
They’ve now remedied this. 😀
In collaboration with Heunec, you can now get MEEPS in a cute fluffy plushie form to take home! Awwww….

Hang on, they are not done yet. Why stop at a plushie? 😛
They’ll also be launching a new game LOOT, termed as the “official game for SPIEL” this year. The game is designed by Roy & Ralf and published by Skellig Games. It’s described as a family friendly roll-n-write for 2-4 people from 8 yo and up.

Publisher Description: Meeps is at the world’s most awesome games fair and wants to visit as many stands as possible. In “Loot” you can help Meeps by planning your moves cleverly and not letting yourself be pushed into a corner. Collect extra points and unlock special abilities in this exciting roll-and-meeps game for the whole Family.
Note: Do not confuse this game with Knizia’s LOOT.
Is the game any good? Dunno, but it has that cute kitten on the gamebox. hehe. And they make good lucky draw prizes for the BGC Retreat, yes?
Some we wear.
The more practical among us would likely just get a t-shirt if we wish to commemorate our trip to the Fair. And here, they are not slacking either, presenting us with three different t-shirt designs this year.

You can find all these mercs at Hall 6, Stand 6B406.
