The BOARDGAMECAFE.NET team is now on our way to Essen! As we prepare to feast our senses for the next four days on the world’s largest board game fair, here’s a recap of the hall layout plan for this year’s fair.

• Hall 1: Miniatures Games, Trading Card Games, Role-Playing Games
• Hall 2: Role-Playing Games, Connoisseur Games, Expert Games
• Hall 3: Connoisseur Games, Expert Games
• Hall 4: Expert Games, Family Games, B2B
• Halls 5 and 6: Family Games ranging from Children’s Games to Party Games to light Connoisseur Games
• Galeria: free activities for children and Foodcourt (additional stands in various outer areas)

This theme-based hall arrangement was made 2 years back (read this post) and while the reorganization of the booth may be confusing for long time attendees, I’ve to admit after a year or two of adjustment, we quite like the new thematic arrangement.

You can get more details on the Hall Plans here: HALL PLANS (spielessen.de) – and if you are attending the fair, the app is a must-download for your phone. As usual, we leave you with our group pic from last year’s Essen Spiel.

TICKETS SELLING FAST!!

Well, this we did not expect. In all ten years of our Spiel attendance, we’ve not heard of the admittance ticket selling out. I mean, they have 6-7 halls and while the halls can be packed at times, there were always people leaving to offset those coming in.

But this year, we were alerted two days earlier that the 4-day passes were sold out!! And just now, we received news all tickets for Thu 3/10 are gone!! Wow this is certainly a first for Essen Spiel.

SPIEL is becoming more and more popular and more people are coming to the fair every year. In addition, some safety regulations have changed in recent years, so that unlimited visitor growth is impossible. That is why we have introduced quotas for each ticket type this year, so that on the one hand the safety regulations are adhered to and on the other hand the visit is pleasant for everyone.

From Spiel organizer

Friday tickets are selling out soon… if you had planned to get your tickets on-site, it’s time to review Plan B. 😛

But if you have already bought your tickets, then I wish you great times at the fair and if we bump into each other, do say Hi!
