Back in Dec 2018, we launched our first Boardgamegeek Patron promo. It was well received, and we’d planned to make it an annual event. However, 2019 was a bit overwhelming, and we had to put it on hold. We are glad to bring it back in 2020 (thanks to all who took part), and we are excited to announce the 2024 iteration of our BGG Patron Promo!

When is the promo? The campaign runs from today until 31 Dec 2024.

I think most if not all of you would have heard of BOARDGAMEGEEK and find them invaluable. Boardgamegeek is committed to remain as a free resource, but they also have expenses that need to be covered. That’s where the Boardgamegeek Patron contributions comes in. From as low as USD15 (one-time) you can do your part to help support Boardgamegeek and keep it thriving.

I would love to see more Malaysian boardgamers chipping in their support. Since this is the period when Boardgamegeek traditionally run their End-of-Year Geek Patronage drive, we at Boardgamecafe.net thought it is a great opportunity to offer some incentive for your kind patronage.

Here’s the deal. Sign up as a 2024 Boardgamegeek Patron (mininum USD15) and receive a RM50 discount voucher on your next webstore order. If you are a returning Boardgamegeek Patron, we have even better news. For each year you have supported the Geek in the past (with a Patron badge), we’ll give you another RM20 discount voucher. How does this BGG Patron Promo work?
To qualify for the RM50 discount voucher, you should be a Boardgamegeek Patron (sign-up here) with a 2024 Patron microbadge. This requires a one-time contribution of at least USD15 (one-time fee).

1. If you are not already a BGG Patron, 
   • Contribute here.
   • You’ll need to register as a Boardgamegeek user if you have not already done so.
2. After contributing,
   • Ensure your Geek Profile shows the BGG 2024 Patron microbadge (minimum contribution USD15 required).
   • For support or issues regarding your Boardgamegeek Patron contribution, refer to the Boardgamegeek website.
3. Important Dates:
   • The BGG Patron campaign ends on 31 Dec 2024.
4. Next Steps:
   • Once you’ve received your badge and it’s proudly displayed on your Boardgamegeek Profile, send us an email with a screenshot of your BGG Profile to process the BGG Patron Promo voucher (note: incomplete emails will not be processed)

5. Processing:
   • We’ll verify your user profile in Boardgamegeek, and send you the BGG Patron Promo vouchers via return email.
   • We expect to have these processed by the January 10.
6. Using your Voucher:
   • Upon receiving your BGG Patron Promo voucher(s), you can place an order through our webstore https://boardgamecafe.biz and apply the voucher code for your discount.
   • Minimum order of RM200 applies.

What about the RM20 discount voucher for each additional year I’ve supported Boardgamegeek?

1. For each year (prior to 2024) that you have been a Boardgamegeek Patron, you are entitled to additional RM20 discount voucher.
2. When we process your RM50 discount voucher, we’ll also consider your previous Patron years. Our backend script will generate the relevant number of additional RM20 discount vouchers for you.

   ANSWER: Yes

2. I’ve not yet contributed to Boardgamegeek before but I would like to start now. Can I get both RM50 and RM20 discount vouchers?
   
   ANSWER: If you are contributing to Boardgamegeek for the first time this year, you will receive one RM50 discount voucher. However, next year you’ll get an additional RM20 discount voucher for each year of patronage.

3. I’m going to contribute USD100 to Boardgamegeek for this year. How many times can I use the RM50 discount voucher?
   
   ANSWER: Firstly let me thank you for your generosity. Our discount vouchers (RM50/RM20) are one-time use, regardless of the amount you contribute as Patron (minimum USD15). We’re sure your contribution is to help Boardgamegeek with their expenses upkeep and not solely for our promo. tsk tsk.

4. Are the discount vouchers transferable to another person?
   
   ANSWER: No, each discount voucher is tied to your BGC Webstore Account (as they’ll earn you BGC Marks when you use them). However, nothing stops you from using them to buy games on behalf of your friend. 😛

5. For the previous years of patronage, how many RM20 discount vouchers would I get? As many times as I’ve supported Boardgamegeek in the past years?
   
   ANSWER: Yes.

6. Really? Do you mean if I’ve been supporting Boardgamegeek since 2006 without fail, I’ll be be getting eighteen (18) RM20 discount vouchers for a total RM360 rebate??!!
   
   ANSWER: Yes. If you have indeed been supporting Boardgamegeek since 2006 without fail – and have a microbadge to show in your Geek Profile from 2006-2024 you will receive eighteen RM20 discount vouchers from us.

   ANSWER: Unfortunately, the discount voucher can only be applied to current in-stock items. But you have until the end of March to use the discount vouchers, so perhaps by then your item may have arrived and in-stock.
