BGC Euro Saturdays are back!

Here’s a picture-heavy recap of our journey to bring Euro Saturdays back to our event calendar! Hope this gives you a good comparison of the games we bring out for Saturdays, compared to the more casual and beginner-friendly vibes of our regular Casual Fridays.

While CASUAL FRIDAY is now a stable part of our community events, it has always been our desire to get Saturdays back on the menu. Beside offering another option for folks who can’t make our Friday dates, Saturdays also offer a longer playtime allowing the heavier games to be tabled.

DECEMBER 2025

We teased with a Saturday session last December featuring NIPPON (the OG What’s Your Game edition) and IMPERIAL (my fave Mac Gerdt rondel).

MARCH 2026

We didn’t manage to do any Euro Saturdays for January and February this year, but got back on track with two sessions in March!

March was pretty much Space-themed with GALACTIC CRUISE…
Suchy’s EVACUATION …
… and UNSETTLED, which is Rachel’s fave Space coop adventure game.
We also broke out the underrated STUPOR MUNDI from Quined’s Masterprint series.

APRIL 2026

We started getting into a monthly traction in APRIL with a STEFAN FELD theme day where among the many games designed by Feld – Druids of Edora, Bonfire, Civolution, Kokopelli, and Notre Dame were played.

But with the huge library of games under just this one designer (Stefan Feld), I’m sure we’ll be back with another STEFAN FELD DAY soon.

MAY 2026

The month of MAY is arguably when we were really back on the Euro Saturday track when we hosted two Saturday sessions; the first – a return to our fave genre “train games” with KERETAPI DAY where we rounded up the evening with 5 train games (Union Pacific, Airlines Europe, Russian Railroads, Railways of Great Britain, and 18India).

AIRLINES EUROPE is not a train-game, but it’s the reimplementation of Union Pacific. Most purists would still go back to Union Pacific but Airlines Europe does offer a more streamlined game.

And lastly no TRAIN DAY can do without one 18xx, yes?

We closed out MAY with another Euro Saturday, this time taking on the Civilization theme…

And I finally managed to table PILLARS OF HERACLES after so many false dawn!

So yes, we are now firmly back on the EURO SATURDAY track. While we are not yet ready to host Euro Saturdays on a weekly basis like our CASUAL FRIDAYS, we will certainly be tabling one session monthly. Or maybe two.

I hope this short but picture-ful recap gives you some sense of the types of games we table on Euro Saturdays, compared to the more casual and beginner-friendly vibe of Casual Fridays.
