The Catan Tour continues from Bangsar & Cheras to SS15 this time as we head to the popular MEEPLES Boardgamecafe as they host the 3rd Qualifier. No popcorn bribe nor world peace here but you get a bunch of boisterous group of Cataners – sixteen of them in fact – competing for the two places in the MAGACON Finals.
After the Boardgame Depot Qualifier last week, the action moves to Cheras at the legendary OTK Cheras boardgame meetup venue which is the “home” of Boardgamecafe.net. As usual, things happen here in OTK on Friday nite and to reward those who dare to brave the traffic jam to get to OTK, we’ve on display five different editions of Settlers of Catan! And what does Catan have to do with World Peace? Read on… King Philip is Fair. 😛
The first of our Settlers of Catan Qualifier concluded last Saturday at Boardgame Depot. Find out who are our first two Finalists to enter the CATAN FINAL this Dec 17. TIP: It’s all about the popcorn, and not the sheeps. 😛
Boardgamecafe.net is happy to bring you yet another competitive event; this time on the popular SETTLERS OF CATAN boardgame (arguably the first euro designer game that started the current trend of euro-gaming). Competition format will be similar to our POWER GRID tournament held earlier this year, and this time we’ll be hosting the Catan Finals at upcoming MAGACON event, is Malaysia’s first annual independent analog and digital gaming convention.
BGN Session Report Aug, Sept & October 2011 The Bumper Issue! Sorry for the months of no show here.. a combination of work, computer HDD crashing and general laziness (hides in corner) contributed to the lack of updates on this thread. Since I can’t remember most of the stuff […]
We all have our own “races” to run. And our own reasons for running those races. However every year, around this time of the year, everyone puts aside their own “races” and run for Terry Fox. Come join us this Nov 13th (Sun) at Padang Merbok as Boardgamecafe.net supports the annual fund raising charity run hosted for everyone to work together to outrun cancer! There’s also the cool BGC Terry Fox Run t-shirt for you to collect!

And special thanks to all the gamers who helped us set up the tables & chairs earlier!! You guys are the BEST!

A shorter list than the previous “A” list, the popular games in this list have to be Bang, Battlestar Galactica, Bohnanza and my personal fave of the list BRASS. For those with poor memory, you might want to take a look at Busen Memo. Hehe.
The 2nd part of the “A” list of boardgames included top games such as Automobile, Antiquity, Advanced Squad Leader and Axis & Allies. Read more and find out which of these games are my fave? 😛
Many familiar faces were seen again in OTK Cheras! Perhaps it’s because that it’s probably the last few times that we’ll play there? 😛
The first of the alphabets produced some really heavy hitters namely Acquire, Age of Steam, and Agricola. Find out more about these games in the first part of the “A” list.
The “1” list in CK’s library. Find out why 7 Ages can be a priceless experience…
As we look to transition from Old Town Kopitiam to new OTK, another Friday evening was well spent with the first play of ERUPTION (lava flow anyone?) and IMPERIAL being the main course. Innovation, Nightfall, 7 Wonders with Leaders, Kaigan were also seen on the tables.
Wow! You guys are probably the best purveyors of designer boardgames in Malaysia! Great stock varieties + availabilities + very reasonable retail prices and added incentives for customers. I’m Lovin’ It!
Best place to get your fix on board games and what not. Friendly and awesome people. Keep supporting this place!
Lately I got to know a bunch of really wonderful guys, the Boardgamecafe guys, also known as the OTK gang. They are like the real life version of Boardgamegeek.”
